How to Be a Lumberjack...

Here's yet another layout. I thought maybe if I do something so incredibly repetitive and annoy everyone maybe someone would at least comment on how annoying it is. ???

I love the background paper of this layout. {Distressed} meets {Office} meets {Subtle Floral}. Awesome. Besides buying the background paper, I used all salvaged supplies some of which I've have for eight years or more (snowflake stickers.) This was another layout that I worked on while my friend Melissa was over. She contributed the round "Let it Snow" rub-on in the bottom left corner. Thanks, Meliss'r!

Brown Bear

This photo was taken on the first day of school but Jonas' teacher held onto it for a few weeks. We first saw it while we were at school for picture day. Miss Donna whispered something to Jonas and then he brought this paper over to us. She couldn't wait to see our reaction and then laughed at us laughing at the picture. "Well, I guess we don't really need to stay for school pictures, we already have a perfectly fine photo right here."

I want to give a shout out to my fellow scrapbooker Melissa. Hey, I finished it!! I started this layout when Melissa was over last month for our yearly scrapbook day. Yes, I said "yearly." How pathetic that we can only manage to get together one time a year to scrapbook together. Maybe this year we will be able to double it.

I was less than halfway through this layout when Melissa had to depart and leave me staring and wondering what to do next. I am pretty pleased with the outcome. I used the cool chipboard letters again and I cut out some of the leaf design on the background paper to overlap the enlarged photo. Kinda cool.

To the Farm!!!

This was our fourth visit to D&D Ranch out in Terrebonne. Grandma Rose and Grandpa Jim joined us this year and they had a lot of fun watching Jonas roam around the farm and pumpkin patch first hand. It was a fabulous day, especially for the middle of October. I think it got up to 79 degrees. Perfect.

First we headed out to the pumpkin patch with wagon in tow.

I was pretty impressed with Jonas carrying the big pumpkins. He's got serious muscles.

After the pumpkin patch we had a quick picnic lunch and then Jonas braved the petting zoo. He was a little unsure at first (typical) but after awhile decided that the sheep were his very favorite animals.

An even giant-er cow. I had to do some major reassuring to get Jonas to stand this close to the cow.

I can't believe they grow such cute vegetables at this farm.

Well, this one isn't a vegetable but it's a pretty cute boy with a weird trapezoid for a hat.

This video is hilarious (to me) for numerous reasons. The off-camera conversation between Grandma Rose and Tony is funny (to me.) Jonas going from one pumpkin to the next and ripping the handles off is super funny, too (to me.) You'll know he's ripped off another one when you hear me giggling and moving the camera violently. Hey, I'm not a professional. (that explains a lot)



My apologies to D&D Ranch for A) letting my child abuse numerous pumpkins and B) not buying a single pumpkin. But on the bright side Grandpa Jim bought us all ice cream and I think that cost about $20 so we'll just call it even.

Vacation May 2007

This layout was hard for me to complete, or even start, because of the different colors in the photos. Most of the colors are similar except for the three with the bike trailer---the red really threw me off. I tried to add little bits of red throughout the entire layout to try to make the red "work" but I don't know if I actually pulled it off. I do like the two larger pics of Jonas and Tony on the left side and I think that part turned out nice with the matting and the rub-on definitions. I also like the chipboard letters for 'vacation'. I bought those on clearance at Wal*Mart dirt cheap which makes them even better.

I love these photos that DeAnne took of Jonas and Big Uncle hunting Easter eggs a couple years ago. I already did a layout with other photos from this day but I knew I had to do something special with these. Big Uncle is going to love this layout.

Fall is Here

I managed to get Jonas outside for a few minutes today after we got home from church to snap some photos. He was in this very cool outfit that Auntie got for him a few weeks ago when he stayed with her for the weekend. (Thanks, Auntie!!) He looked so fall-ish I thought that we should mark the change of season with a photo shoot around our yard.

Another Home Haircut

The night before picture day at Jonas' school I was desperate for him to have a haircut. I was also terrified to cut his hair again myself and make it all wonky to be captured on film. I convinced Tony to use his clippers to just trim up Jonas' sideburns (do 4-year-olds really have sideburns?) and his neck. We got set up in the bathroom and started a movie for him on the laptop. It's amazing what a kid will endure when he is distracted by Thomas the train. Jonas did really well and Tony did a good job, too. Maybe Jonas will be getting more Dad haircuts in the future.

Bee the Fisherman

Jonas was very excited to show me this little bee he made at school. It's a really cute craft with pom-pom balls and googly eyes made into a bumble bee finger puppet. As I was taking these photos I asked what his bee's name was. "He doesn't have a name. But...maybe we could call him Bee the Fisherman. Ya, that's a good name." Ooookay.

The top photo cracks me up for several reasons. First off he looks completely goofy, especially compared to the rest of the photos. It's like he's two different kids from one photo to the next. Secondly, it looks as though he's afraid of the bee and fears that he might, in fact, get stung. And last, I laugh because "the look" is caught on film that reminds me so much of our friend Clyde Tucker at this age. There have been various times when Jonas reminds us of Clyde and it's mostly in a look or when he's dressed a certain way that we see some Clyde-ness in him. Clyde is an awesome kid and Jonas being like him is great.
