Go Your Own Way

Journaling: April 16, 2008

I've finally made it back to my scrapbook pages after long neglect. The last few months I've gotten sidetracked with another crafty-obsession and haven't gotten anything done on Jonas' scrapbook so I am now more than a year behind. (The new crafty-obsession is gift related so I won't elaborate until after I've given them.) Oh well. Still fun even if I'm perpetually behind.

I am somewhat proud of myself that this page was created without a special trip to the scrapbook store for supplies. I actually managed to create this out of the impossibly large stash of supplies that I've been accumulating over the last several years. Other scrapbook-aholics will nod along in agreement when I say that sometimes I buy stuff that I think is so cool (or is potentially so cool) and I have a hard time using it because I don't want to "waste" it. Case-in-point: the library card with journaling on it in this layout is actually older than Jonas is. Sad, but true. But today I had the courage to use the cool library card and I think it was the perfect addition to this somewhat simple page.

Open for Business

Photos: April 12, 2008

I thought I'd be super-blogger today and post some photos that were taken mere hours ago. It's so warm today that after weeks of begging from Jonas, we decided to open the sandbox. It has been covered w/ plywood and a tarp since last October and Jonas has been asking at least once a week if we can open the sandbox. So today was finally the day. Of course now he's really wanting to have his little pool out and filled up so he can go swimming, too. I'm sure it will be a few more months, at least, until that happens. Until then, he'll have to be happy with digging in the sand.

Easter Eggs

Photos: March 23, 2008

Jonas got to color some Easter Eggs with some friends at the Jonas' house. (Yes, we actually have friends with the last name of Jonas...crazy, I know.) I wish I had better photos of Jonas with the other kids but they were moving around so much that most of the pics are super-blurry. Jonas actually lost interest about the fifth egg or so and didn't give me a lot of time for photos. I'm sure it's no shock to anyone that a 3 year old has a short attention span.

The Easter Egg Huntin' photos are from Easter afternoon at Grandma Rosie and Grandpa Jim's house. Jonas, Auntie and Big Uncle hid the eggs and then we all helped find them. Jonas had no problem with hiding the eggs and finding them. He thought it was awesome. We spent most of that evening and the next day taking turns hiding the eggs in our living room. (They were all plastic, of course.) Jonas liked to hide the eggs in plain site, usually on the couch all in a row and then scream out "IT'S EGG HUNTIN' TIME, MOM!!!" Literally hours of fun (for Jonas.)

The last photo is of Big Uncle gettin' his crazy on. Classic Big Uncle antics. I'm pretty sure that Jonas said that Scott was being an alien at this point....that's a pretty good description.

The Undershirt

Photos: March 23, 2008

Scene: Easter morning getting dressed for church.

Mom: Here, put on this undershirt.
Jonas: Oh, undershirt. (puts it on) Do you like my undershirt, Mom? (patting his chest)
Mom: Um, ya. It's nice. (laughing)
Jonas: Do you want to get your camera and take a picture of my undershirt?
Mom: Do you want me to take a picture?
Jonas: Um, yes. Get your camera, Mom!

I love how the photos turned out. This is the same spot I took a lot of the photos of Jonas during his first few months. It's on a small couch in Jonas' room which is perfect for photos when the morning light shines in his window. I love how the lighting really shows off his blue eyes. (click on photos to enlarge)
